Overlooking Offenses

Sensible people control their temper;
they earn respect by overlooking wrongs.
Proverbs 19:11 (NLT)

One of the enemy's most effective weapons is when we develop an offended spirit.
It's amazing what happens when we allow unforgiveness to linger in our lives.
It never stays isolated.
Unforgiveness spreads into other relationships
and will eventually effect every other area of our lives.

When we carry an offense, it will become the focal point of our lives.
An offended spirit will distract us from what we really need to be doing.
It's a battle that's not worth fighting.

I've known people who have gotten upset with one person at church,
and before long they no longer come to church at all.
What's really crazy is, when you ask them why they haven't been attending,
their answer is often:
"Nobody there likes me... everyone is talking about me."
It's kind of like the guy who quit going to football games
because he was convinced that during the huddle
both teams were talking about him!

Here's my point:
When we carry offenses, things get blown way out of proportion.

We shouldn't allow offenses to distract us and get us off course.
Instead, we need to stay focused on what God has called us to do
and overlook the potential stumbling block of offenses.
Choose your battles wisely so you can fulfill your God-given destiny!

Have a blessed & powerful day!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Heavenly Father, search my heart today.
Remove any offense or any wrong attitude that would stand in the way
of Your best for my life.
I love You and desire to be my best for You.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
